In case you hadn’t noticed…..I’ve been away.
An eternity for you perhaps, if only an instance for myself as….time and space are indeed relative.
Stolen away to a galaxy beyond, hidden in the shadows of a nebula deep in the cosmos – patiently waiting until once again…. drawn back to the incredible vibratory patterns of this glorious planet you call Earth.
I’m back on Earth and everything looks great. The technological advancement here has finally entered its “exponential growth phase”. I’m very pleased. It’s been a very long haul, but having seen this a million times over in other systems – I feel the time is right. The time is now to consider and discuss the idea of “convergence”.
Convergence: the act of converging and especially moving toward union or uniformity. The merging of distinct technologies, industries, or devices into a unified whole.
Let’s take electric vehicles for example. admittedly the adoption rate has been relatively slow thus far (which is fair as with any new technology) as humans generally fear change, and have difficulties accepting “large scale changes to their vision or lens” Ok so……how bout an electric vehicle with literally “unlimited driving distances” due to breakthroughs in battery technology? See where I’m going with this? Horses……steam engines….gas engines….digital / electric engines..a progression no?
To look at a single technology as it exists in a silo – is both short sighted and to a certain degree ignorant as…….15 years ago you could barely see a decent image on the Internet, let alone stream live television. Now due to advancements in connectivity / high speeds / further advancement in the growth of the network, millions of Earthlings now enjoying the “convergence” of several technologies, nestled in their little huts, binge watching Breaking Bad. Love it.
Take space exploration. We now have more technology in our cell phones than was needed to put the first man on the moon, and are literally “catching rockets for re-use” as they come back to earth and land on a dime. Absolutely incredible. Still a rocket……..but our “launch and retrieval technologies” have now turned the industry upside down, with respect to the incredible reduction in costs. One technology “spring boarding” another. You dig?
Can you even imagine what artificial intelligence is going to do for us medically? Once A.I meets genetics ( which is very much underway now ) the technology will unlock the secrets to immortality, crunching 10’s of millions of variables / equations per second as opposed to humans toiling for centuries. Convergence. A convergence of technologies to skyrocket human advancement at a rate yet unseen on this planet. This is happening now, and you are a part of it.
Don’t fear it. Embrace it.
The next “bull run in humanity” is going to be absolutely mind blowing, so don’t let this short term crap get you down.
